The Douglas TA-4J Skyhawk “Vintage Scooter” rolls for takeoff at the 2016 Wings Over Houston Airshow at Ellington Field, Texas. Used as a jet trainer by the US Navy and Marine Corps, this aircraft is operated by the Collings Foundation and bears the markings of H&MS-11 “Playboys,” tail code TM-08. The TA-4J was a key transitional aircraft for naval aviators, offering supersonic capability and carrier-based training in a compact, agile airframe.
