North American P-51D Mustang

By Timothy Paul Smith Photography

Print Description:

The magnificent North American P-51D Dakota Kid II glistens in the Texas sun during a photo pass at the Wings Over Houston Airshow. This aircraft wears the historic markings of Lt. Noble Peterson’s WWII Mustang, flown with the 355th Fighter Group, 358th Fighter Squadron. Peterson’s original mission was bomber escort deep into enemy territory—a role that defined the Mustang’s reputation as a long-range, high-performance fighter.
