Aviation Print - “Minsi III” photo pass
Grumman F6F Hellcat
By Timothy Paul Smith Photography
Print Description:
Photographed during a dynamic photo pass at the Wings Over Houston Airshow at Ellington Field in 2019, this image captures the legendary Grumman F6F-5 Hellcat “Minsi III” in flight. This aircraft represents the decisive upgrade the U.S. Navy needed to counter the Japanese Zero—heavily armed, long-ranged, and built for pilot survivability with armor plating and self-sealing fuel tanks. “Minsi III” honors the legacy of ace pilot David McCampbell, the Navy’s top WWII scorer. Rendered in archival clarity, this print pays tribute to the Hellcat’s role in securing air superiority in the Pacific Theater
